The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has assured Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, of his intervention in the challenges surrounding him.
The monarch met with Igboho at his Bodija residence in Ibadan on Monday during a private meeting that lasted about 40 minutes. Discussions, according to Igboho’s media office, centred on insecurity in the South-West and the increasing threats posed by bandits in parts of Kwara State.
Sources close to the palace revealed that Oba Ladoja also pledged to wade into the difficulties Igboho faces following his declaration as wanted by the Federal Government and the restrictions placed on his bank accounts.
During the meeting, Igboho congratulated the Olubadan on his ascension to the throne, describing him as a leader admired and respected not only across Ibadanland but throughout Yorubaland and beyond. He also expressed willingness to work with relevant authorities to strengthen security in the South-West, stressing that peace and stability remain the foundation for genuine progress and development.
Meanwhile, a national leader of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Adesina Akinpelu, has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his silence on the rising insecurity in Kwara South. Akinpelu faulted the President’s Independence Day broadcast, describing it as insensitive for failing to address the violent attacks and invasions of Yoruba communities by armed groups in the region.
