Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Reverend Dr. Uma Ukpai, describing him as a true soldier of Christ and a spiritual luminary whose passing has left an irreplaceable void in Christendom and beyond.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, the governor expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the renowned cleric, whom he described as one of Abia’s most revered and influential religious leaders. He said Rev. Ukpai’s life was one of unwavering devotion to God and selfless service to humanity, noting that his teachings and evangelistic works had transformed countless lives across Nigeria and the world.

Reflecting on his personal relationship with the late evangelist, Governor Otti spoke fondly of the bond they shared, describing it as that of a father and son. He said Rev. Ukpai embodied the true essence of Christian faith, living every day as a vessel for divine purpose and spiritual impact.

“Our father in the Lord, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, has, to the joy of heaven, gone to be with the Lord,” Otti said. “He was a man who surrendered wholly to God’s calling, a soldier of Christ who healed the sick, brought hope to the broken, and fulfilled the sacred mission of spreading God’s word to all corners of the earth.”

The governor noted that Rev. Ukpai’s departure came at a time when his spiritual guidance, wisdom, and humanitarian work were still greatly needed. He described his death not as a loss but as a glorious transition to eternal rest, urging Christians to find solace in the enduring legacy he left behind.

Governor Otti extended his condolences to the Ukpai family, the entire Christian community, and all who were touched by the life and ministry of the great evangelist. He prayed that God would grant them strength and peace in this moment of grief and called on believers to keep the flame of faith and revival burning, as inspired by the life and service of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai.
