Payaza Africa Limited Earns A- Rating Upgrade from Augusto & Co.

Zoyols News

Payaza Africa Limited has recorded another major achievement after its credit rating was upgraded from BBB to A- by Agusto & Co..

The company announced the development in a statement released on Monday, describing the upgrade as a strong sign of growing confidence in its operations and long term business direction.

According to Payaza, the latest rating improvement reflects its steady transformation from a rapidly growing payment platform into a more mature and institutionally trusted financial technology brand across Africa.

The fintech company noted that the recognition was not only based on financial growth, but also on factors such as operational stability, disciplined management, sound governance and the ability to scale responsibly within Africa’s highly competitive fintech space.

Payaza explained that investor and institutional confidence in the fintech industry is increasingly influenced by credibility, execution, liquidity and strong governance rather than innovation alone.

The company added that the move from BBB to A- represents growing market trust in its structure, operations and long term strategic plans.

As part of its expansion efforts, Payaza highlighted some of its recently introduced products, including “Chat and Pay by Payaza,” a solution that enables merchants to receive payments and issue receipts directly through WhatsApp.

The company also pointed to the launch of Shopaza, a digital storefront platform created to help businesses sell products across different regions while enjoying smooth payment processing services.

Reacting to the rating upgrade, the Chief Executive Officer of Payaza, Seyi Ebenezer, said the recognition reflects the company’s commitment to building a sustainable financial institution with global relevance.

According to him, the latest development confirms that Payaza’s growth is being matched by stronger institutional trust and confidence in its business model and future vision.

He added that the achievement strengthens the company’s position both locally and internationally while also showing that African fintech firms can evolve into resilient and properly governed institutions capable of competing globally.

Beyond Agusto & Co., the company has also received positive assessments from other rating agencies. DataPro recently upgraded Payaza’s rating from A to AA-, while Moody’s assigned the company an A3 rating.

Payaza operates as a payment infrastructure company providing collection, payout and embedded financial service solutions for businesses across Africa and other markets.
