TikTok star Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has revealed he’s reconsidering his recent decision to enroll in a law programme at a private university in Lagos, citing the negative impact on his income.
In a voice note shared on his channel on Tuesday, Peller admitted that spending hours in class without earning money was a dealbreaker. “Guys, I swear, I said I’m going to school… I am not going again. I am not going again,” he said. He explained that the long hours in class left him feeling unproductive. “I was inside class for four hours and didn’t make any money. I will write, I will look, I will play—nothing. God forbid. I’m not doing that again,” he added.
Peller also noted feeling out of place among older students, describing himself as the youngest in the room. “When I enter the school, I notice everyone is older. I’m the only young blood there,” he said. He hinted he might revisit school later in life. “Maybe when I hit 30 or 40, I’ll go back. Please cancel everything. I’m tired,” he stated.
This comes shortly after Peller celebrated his admission into the law programme, a milestone he shared in a viral video last Saturday. At the time, he proudly responded to critics of his educational background: “Everyone has been criticizing me for not being educated… Now, I’m in school. I’m studying law. You can’t mess with me anymore. I know the law,” he declared.
The TikTok sensation has faced ongoing online criticism over his grammar and schooling, with some users labeling him “uneducated.” Earlier this month, Peller had said he planned to pursue higher education to improve his English, and he recently made headlines during the controversy surrounding American streamer IShowSpeed’s visit to Nigeria.
Even as he celebrates his growing online influence, Peller now faces a personal crossroads between formal education and his booming content creation career.
