Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has signed the 2025 Supplementary Appropriation Bill into law, approving a total of ₦137 billion following its passage by the State House of Assembly. The allocation includes ₦126.8 billion for capital projects and ₦10.2 billion for recurrent expenditures, aimed at sustaining ongoing infrastructure initiatives and completing key projects across the state.
Speaking at the Government House after assenting to the bill, Governor Radda commended the lawmakers for their swift action. “I commend the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura, and all Honourable Members for their prompt consideration of this vital bill. Your dedication to Katsina’s development is commendable,” he stated.
The governor explained that the supplementary budget became necessary after various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies depleted their initial capital allocations due to the scale of current projects. He highlighted that the additional funds would be directed toward the completion of roads, hospitals, schools, water supply schemes, and agricultural programs throughout the state. He also pledged that the budget’s implementation would adhere to principles of transparency and accountability.
House Leader Hon. Shamsuddeen Abubakar Dabai praised Governor Radda for his performance, noting that the supplementary request was timely given the scope of ongoing and completed projects. The proposal had previously been reviewed by the Committee on Appropriations before being returned for passage.
Also present at the signing were Hon. Ibrahim Dikko Matazu, Chief Whip of the House, and Hon. Lawal H. Yaro, Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, who expressed confidence in the effective deployment of the approved funds to advance the state’s development agenda.
