Samsung Electronics has started rolling out One UI 9, bringing new Galaxy AI features, improved personalisation tools and additional security options to a wider range of Galaxy devices.
The rollout initially covers the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus and Galaxy S26 Ultra, following the software’s introduction on Samsung’s latest foldable models, including the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8.
One UI 9 is designed to make Galaxy devices more responsive to users’ activities while giving them greater control over how they capture content, organise information and manage their devices.
Among the new features is My FanCam, which uses AI to follow a selected person in a video and keep them centred as they move. The feature could prove useful when recording performances, sporting events and other activities involving moving subjects.
Samsung has also expanded Now Brief with Generative and Editable Cards. Users can create and adjust cards covering areas such as health, weather and video, allowing their daily summaries to focus on information that matters most to them.
Another addition, Now Nudge, provides suggestions based on the context of conversations. When users discuss plans in a chat, for example, it can bring up reservation details or help save a shared location without requiring them to leave the conversation.
Creative Studio has also received more proactive AI assistance. It can suggest image creation ideas linked to upcoming occasions, such as preparing a birthday themed image or greeting ahead of a friend’s special day.
Samsung is also improving translation and productivity tools. Interpreter now includes Thread View, allowing users to look back at previous exchanges during translated conversations, while Conversation Mode has been made faster on supported devices.
Document Scan has been upgraded to handle difficult materials, including curved book pages and documents with folded corners. Samsung has also improved scanning on compatible large screen Galaxy devices and added an enhanced Finger Eraser.
For recorded meetings and conversations, Voice Recorder can now present summaries in a more organised format, including headings and tables that make important details easier to review.
Device support is also getting more attention through the new Warranty and Care section in Settings. Users can check warranty information, run self diagnostics, view repair estimates, manage Samsung Care Plus and arrange service appointments.
Security and privacy have also received new attention. Security Brief can alert users to potential concerns such as malware, applications installed from unknown sources and unnecessary permissions.
Privacy Alerts use on device AI to identify possible privacy risks, including applications attempting to access certain permissions in the background without a clear need.
Samsung is also expanding Scam Detection to more countries and languages, providing protection against potentially fraudulent calls in supported markets.
The One UI 9 rollout will continue to expand to other compatible Galaxy devices. However, specific features and their availability may differ depending on the device, market and language.
