Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has shared a frightening health scare that landed her in the hospital. On Instagram, the Asaba-born star revealed that she woke up one morning unable to feel parts of her body, a moment that made her feel momentarily lifeless. Despite the alarming sensation, she pushed through her day, heading to her stores for inventory and interviews with new staff—until she eventually collapsed.
“I woke up today and couldn’t feel any part of my body. For a second, I felt lifeless,” she wrote. “I still struggled and went to my stores to do inventory and a few interviews for incoming employees, and that was when I slumped. All through December, I worked every single day. No days off, no stretches—just a walking corps working tirelessly to cater for others, forgetting myself.”
After undergoing 32 tests, including checks for cancer, fibroid, kidney, liver, malaria, and typhoid, all results came back negative. Doctors determined she was extremely exhausted and in urgent need of proper rest.
“I guess God took proper care of my organs while I neglected my body,” Sarah said from her hospital bed. “I am typing this from a sick bed, but I will be fine because the God that protects the vulnerable kids I struggle for will never fail me. Thank you, Heavenly Father, for your constant protection over my life.”
Sarah’s scare comes amid a series of similar incidents involving Nigerian entertainers. Just a day earlier, actress Omoni Oboli had addressed her own illness, reassuring fans that she was recovering. Yoruba actor Yomi Gold shared his hospitalization after a sudden headache, calling it a reminder of life’s fragility. Mustapha Sholagbade recounted surviving a near-fatal accident, while Nkechi Blessing revealed a close call with death years after losing her mother in a flash incident. Veteran actress Ireti Doyle spoke about surviving carbon monoxide poisoning, and singer May D shared his experience recovering in a hospital bed after a health emergency.
These stories, including Sarah Martins’ ordeal, underscore the intense pressures faced by entertainers and the importance of rest, self-care, and gratitude for life’s fragility.
