Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has shared a heartfelt and vulnerable post about her struggles with anger, pain, and depression, and how she found healing and redemption through her faith. In a candid Instagram post, Tonto revealed that she had battled with anger issues that once controlled her life, causing her to destroy relationships and opportunities without a second thought.
She described her anger as a manifestation of pain disguised as control, and confessed that it wasn’t until she broke down and cried out for help that she found solace and healing. “My anger was not power; it was pain disguised as control,” she wrote. “But one day, I broke down and cried out like a child. I was tired of being ruled by my emotions. And El-Roi, the God who sees me, saw me. He didn’t condemn me. He covered me with mercy and completely healed me.”
Tonto also spoke about her struggles with pain, depression, and suicidal thoughts, revealing that she had attempted to take her own life in the past. However, she credited her faith and the Holy Spirit with helping her find peace and healing. “Depression was my closest companion, and I attempted suicide,” she shared. “But God said, ‘Child, get up.’ And I did. Weak, trembling, but alive.”
The actress also spoke about her journey with her faith, revealing that she had given her life to Christ after secondary school but had taken His love for granted. However, after facing life’s harsh realities and pain, she returned to her faith and has since found a deeper connection with God. “I am not ashamed to say it loudly: My life belongs to God. I enjoy learning every day from him and moving in his Grace,” she declared.
