A 19-year-old Nigerian student at Mount Saint Charles Academy is currently navigating a serious legal battle following allegations of sexual assault involving a minor on the school’s campus. Oluwasegun Sanni appeared before a judge on Monday morning to face a charge of second-degree sexual assault, marking a significant turn in an investigation that began with his arrest on March 17, 2026.
The incident allegedly occurred near a locker room area. The complainant, a female student whose identity remains protected due to her age, provided a distressing account to the Woonsocket police. She described being cornered and pushed against a wall, where she began to cry as Sanni allegedly restrained her by the neck and attempted to kiss her. The police report further alleges that the encounter escalated when Sanni reached under her clothing in an inappropriate manner.
The court proceedings on Monday established strict boundaries for Sanni as he remains enrolled at the same institution as the accuser. The presiding judge issued a stern no-contact order, emphasizing that the 19-year-old must avoid any form of interaction or acknowledgment of the girl. The judge warned that even passing her in a hallway requires total avoidance—no gestures, no comments to others in her presence, and no communication of any kind.
While Sanni has been released on personal recognizance, the atmosphere at Mount Saint Charles Academy remains tense. Parents and students informed Reports that the school administration sent out a notification regarding the incident shortly after it occurred. In that communication, families were urged to refrain from spreading rumors or engaging in gossip while the legal process unfolds.
The academy has maintained a firm stance on the matter, releasing a statement to NBC 10 News confirming their awareness of the serious allegations. School officials noted that they are cooperating fully with law enforcement and are committed to a process that ensures student safety while respecting the privacy and dignity of everyone involved. They clarified that, due to the sensitive nature of the case and the age of the parties, no further specific details would be made public at this time.
