Warri Resident Escapes Illegal Oil Bunkering Abductors.

Zoyols Blog

A Warri resident identified as Uche David Igbenoba has made a dramatic escape from his captors, suspected to be members of a prominent illegal oil bunkering syndicate, less than 24 hours after his abduction. The incident occurred in broad daylight on February 4, 2025.

In a confirmed statement detailing the harrowing experience, Igbenoba revealed he has since reported the entire matter to the Nigeria Police Force for immediate investigation.

Igbenoba explained that during his brief captivity, the kidnappers physically assaulted him while accusing him of being the key informant behind a recent government operation. The attackers vehemently claimed that this information led to the dismantling of one of their major bunkering sites within the Niger Delta region. The abductors allegedly identified themselves as members of the affected illegal operation, making their motive explicitly clear.

Fortunately, Igbenoba managed to seize an opportunity to escape from captivity in the early hours of the following morning, making his way to safety and bringing the ordeal to a swift end.

This incident underscores the perilous intersection between community life and the deeply entrenched illegal oil trade in the region, highlighting the dangers faced by citizens perceived to be cooperating with authorities.
