The Coastland Institute of Entrepreneurial Studies (CIES) has rolled out an ambitious nationwide empowerment scheme aimed at training at least 1,000 graduates in each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. This massive initiative focuses on equipping young Nigerians with practical expertise in sectors such as ICT, fashion design, shoemaking, hairstyling, and professional barbering.

During a press briefing held on Monday at the palace of the Paramount Ruler of Uyo, Edidem Sylvanus Effiong Okon, the President General of CIES, Elder Fred Obot, detailed the vision behind the project. He emphasized that the program goes beyond mere classroom learning; every participant will receive recognized certifications and the necessary startup capital to launch their own businesses upon completion of the training.

The leadership of the institute believes that providing these tangible career paths is a direct solution to the rising wave of insecurity and crime across the country. By creating sustainable employment opportunities, the program aims to redirect the energy of the youth toward productive ventures that contribute to national growth.

Elder Obot used the platform to appeal for partnership from Governor Umo Eno and other influential Nigerians, noting that collective support is vital to lifting a significant number of young people out of poverty. He further noted that the institute’s board has decided to back the current administrations at both the state and federal levels, including President Bola Tinubu and Senator Godswill Akpabio, in recognition of their developmental strides.

The Paramount Ruler, Edidem Okon, expressed his full support for the initiative, describing it as a commendable effort to keep the youth engaged. He noted that such grassroots training projects are essential for maintaining social stability and reducing the crime rate within the community, as they provide a sense of purpose and financial independence for the younger generation.
