Governor Dapo Abiodun has presented Ogun State’s 2026 Appropriation Bill to the House of Assembly, laying out a spending plan of N1.669 trillion for the coming year. The proposal, tagged Budget of Sustainable Legacy, was submitted during the plenary session led by Speaker Oludaisi Elemide.
The document outlines N624.76 billion for recurrent expenses and N1.044 trillion for capital projects. Personnel costs are projected at N167.92 billion, while consolidated revenue charges stand at N65.80 billion. Public debt charges are estimated at N99.98 billion, and overheads are expected to take N291.06 billion.
Governor Abiodun also explained how the state plans to fund the sizeable spending package. He said the government is targeting N509.88 billion in internally generated revenue, combining N250 billion from the Ogun State Internal Revenue Service and N259.88 billion from other ministries and agencies. Federal allocations, including VAT and statutory revenue, are expected to contribute N554.81 billion. The remaining N518.90 billion will come from capital receipts, such as loans and grants.
According to the governor, the real focus of the budget goes beyond numbers. He emphasised that the plan is rooted in improving living standards and securing long term progress for the people of Ogun State. He expressed optimism that with unity and commitment, the state will continue on a path of steady growth in 2026.
Speaker Oludaisi Elemide described the proposal as another step toward strengthening the state’s socio economic development. He assured that lawmakers would give the bill prompt attention and maintain close collaboration with other branches of government to advance the welfare and overall progress of the state.
