The office of Senator Sunday Marshall Katung has dismissed rumors circulating on social media suggesting that the lawmaker has abandoned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Midat Joseph, the senator’s camp described the speculation as baseless and misleading. The aide stressed that Senator Katung, who represents Kaduna South Senatorial District, remains firmly committed to the PDP and the people who elected him.
“Senator Katung was elected on the platform of the PDP and continues to stand by the mandate freely given to him by the good people of Kaduna South,” the statement read. It further explained that while politics is naturally dynamic, any decision as significant as a party switch would be made public officially by the senator himself, not through unverified online chatter.
The statement described the defection rumor as nothing more than a distraction from the senator’s focus, which remains on delivering quality representation, legislative service, and driving development across Kaduna South.
Zoyols Blog gathered that Senator Katung’s team has urged constituents, the media, and the public to dismiss the speculation and instead judge him by his work in the Senate and his commitment to his people.
