A’ja Wilson has once again etched her name into WNBA history after delivering another unforgettable performance for the Las Vegas Aces in the early stages of the 2026 season.
The star centre produced a dominant display against the Connecticut Sun on Friday night, scoring 45 points to lead the Aces to a 101-94 victory at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
With the performance, Wilson became the first player in WNBA history to record multiple 45 point games, further cementing her reputation as one of the league’s greatest stars.
Her numbers from the game highlighted just how efficient and unstoppable she was throughout the night. Wilson converted 15 of her 18 shots from the field, made both of her three point attempts, and finished perfectly from the free throw line by sinking all 13 attempts.
She ended the game with 45 points, three rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and one steal in only 32 minutes of action.
According to ESPN Research, Wilson also became the first player in WNBA history to score at least 45 points while shooting 80 percent or better from the field.
The performance marked the fifth 40 point game of her career, pushing her ahead of Breanna Stewart and Diana Taurasi to hold the all time record for the most 40 point games in WNBA history.
Wilson’s previous 45 point performance came in August 2023 against the Atlanta Dream, a game where she eventually set her career high of 53 points. Her latest outing now stands as the second highest scoring game of her professional career and currently the highest scoring performance in the WNBA this season.
Among those present to witness the historic night was her boyfriend and Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo, who watched from courtside as Wilson dominated the game from start to finish.
Despite the milestone, Wilson remained calm while reflecting on her performance after the game. She explained that her main focus is always on playing efficiently within the team’s system rather than chasing points.
Her teammate Chelsea Gray could not hide her admiration for the performance, describing Wilson’s greatness as something impossible to get tired of watching.
Wilson also shared an emotional moment about Mohegan Sun Arena, revealing that the venue holds special memories for her career. She noted that she scored her first WNBA point there and also celebrated a championship in the same building.
The Connecticut Sun are expected to relocate to Houston next season, making this one of Wilson’s final appearances at the arena she described as special to her journey.
