Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso has stressed that the club remains fully united, from the dressing room to the boardroom, as they seek to end a challenging run of results. Alonso, who replaced Carlo Ancelotti on a three-year deal in the summer, has faced mounting pressure following a series of underwhelming performances.
The team’s struggles continued on Sunday with a 2-0 home defeat to Celta Vigo, leaving Real with just one win in their last five La Liga matches and four points adrift of leaders Barcelona. Despite this, Alonso insists the squad is focused and ready to tackle upcoming challenges.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Manchester City, Alonso emphasized the importance of collective belief and emotional connection within the team. “We are all on the same boat,” he said. “We have to go through positive and negative times. The next game is always an opportunity, and tomorrow we have a very exciting match for everyone. We need to keep our eyes open and channel our energy so the Bernabeu enjoys what it sees. That emotional bond is very important.”
The Spanish coach, who has not ruled out a future move to the Premier League, is now looking to steady the team and restore confidence as Real Madrid aim to reclaim their rhythm in both domestic and European competitions.
