Tensions escalated late Friday as a fresh wave of missile fire from Iran sent shockwaves across Tel Aviv, triggering explosions and emergency responses across several neighborhoods. Firefighters rushed to control a blaze at a residential building close to the city’s commercial district after debris from intercepted missiles struck the area. Residents were quickly evacuated as authorities assessed damage to nearby properties.
The attack followed intensified military exchanges after Hezbollah became more deeply involved in the broader conflict, prompting Israel to expand its operations against the Iran-backed group. Israeli officials had earlier promised retaliation following the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which further escalated regional tensions and set the stage for renewed strikes.
According to reports from Iran’s state broadcaster, Tehran claimed responsibility for launching missiles aimed at targets in the heart of Tel Aviv. Meanwhile, Israel’s military said it had activated its defense systems to intercept incoming fire late Thursday night. Journalists on the ground in Tel Aviv described hearing two near-simultaneous waves of explosions echoing across the city, creating scenes of panic as people sought shelter.
In addition to Tel Aviv, rocket trails were also visible lighting up the night sky over Netanya, a coastal city located north of Tel Aviv along Israel’s Mediterranean shoreline. The visual spectacle was quickly followed by emergency alerts as authorities warned residents to stay indoors.
Israel’s emergency response agency, Magen David Adom, confirmed that its teams had visited several reported impact sites. Fortunately, initial assessments showed no casualties, though officials acknowledged property damage in multiple locations. Police authorities also stated that they were responding to scenes involving fallen projectiles across central Israel, adding that investigations were ongoing to determine the full extent of the damage.
In one residential area on the outskirts of Tel Aviv, a projectile struck a building, forcing residents to evacuate immediately. In another location near Israel’s economic center, firefighters worked tirelessly to extinguish a fire caused by falling debris after one of the Iranian rockets was intercepted mid-air.
The Israel Defense Forces also issued multiple rocket warning alerts early Friday for communities close to the border with Lebanon, urging civilians to remain vigilant as regional tensions continue to rise across the conflict zone.
