The All Progressives Congress (APC) has successfully concluded its 8th National Convention at Eagles Square in Abuja, resulting in the election of a new National Working Committee (NWC). The high-profile event, held in the nation’s capital, marks a significant milestone for the ruling party as it reshapes its leadership structure.
The convention saw Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda emerge as the National Chairman, a role that places him at the helm of the party’s strategic operations. He is joined by a robust team of deputies, including Ali Bukar Dalori as Deputy National Chairman for the North and Dr. Benjamin Obi Nwoye representing the South. The administrative backbone of the party will be led by Sen. Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, who was elected National Secretary, supported by Prof. AbdulKarim Abubakar Kana as Deputy National Secretary.
The new leadership team also includes key figures responsible for the party’s legal and financial integrity. Murtala Aliyu Kankia takes over as the National Legal Adviser, while Uguru Mathew Ofoke and Amb. Haruna Ginsau assume the roles of National Treasurer and National Financial Secretary, respectively. To handle the party’s public image and grassroots mobilization, Felix Morka continues as the National Publicity Secretary, alongside Muhammad Sulaiman Argungu as the National Organising Secretary and Dayo Israel as the National Youth Leader.
Reporty also notes that the new NWC reflects a broad geographical and demographic spread. Dr. Mary A. Idele was elected as the National Women Leader, while Aare Durotolu Oyebode Bankole will represent Persons with Disabilities. The committee is further strengthened by various deputy positions and regional ex-officio members, such as Dr. Opawoye Oluwatoyin Bunmi for the North Central and Hon. Bunmi Orinowo for the South West, ensuring that all zones have a voice in the party’s top decision-making body.
