The Lagos State Government has announced a temporary closure of the Iddo Bridge in the Ijora area of Apapa Local Government for a five day period to allow ongoing rehabilitation works to progress smoothly.
The closure is aimed at enabling the Federal Ministry of Works to carry out the installation of heavy steel beams as part of the bridge reconstruction project currently underway.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, made the announcement and appealed to road users to remain patient and cooperate with traffic management personnel throughout the period of the diversion.
According to the schedule released by the state government, the operation will take place in two phases. The first phase is set for June 17, 2026, from 10 in the night until 5 in the morning, while the second phase will hold on June 21, 2026, from 8 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon.
During these periods, the entire stretch of the Iddo Bridge will be closed to vehicular movement to ensure the safe and effective installation of the steel structures.
The government explained that the temporary restriction is part of broader traffic management measures designed to support the ongoing reconstruction being handled by the Federal Ministry of Works through its Lagos field office.
Motorists have been urged to make alternative arrangements and follow diversion plans put in place to ease traffic flow while the work is ongoing.
