Former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has revealed that he would have preferred Victor Osimhen to join Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal last summer. The Saudi club reportedly tabled a €70 million offer to Napoli for the 27-year-old striker, who instead opted for Turkish giants Galatasaray.
Speaking with Winwin, Ighalo admitted he understands Osimhen’s decision to move to Turkey. “For me, I wished he had gone to Al-Hilal, but Galatasaray is a huge club—the biggest in Turkey. They play in the Champions League and consistently perform at a high level,” he said.
Ighalo added that the move to Al-Hilal could still be on the cards in the future. “Perhaps not now, but after his experience with Galatasaray, he can still make the switch to Al-Hilal later,” he noted, highlighting a potential path for Osimhen’s career in the Saudi Pro League down the line.
