The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of three kidnapping victims who were held for over 40 days in captivity, alongside the arrest of five suspected informants believed to be working with a kidnapping network operating in the area.
According to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, the operation was carried out through a coordinated effort involving a joint security team from Fushin Kada and the Divisional Police Officer in Hunkuyi. The mission was made possible after weeks of sustained intelligence gathering and close surveillance of suspected criminal movements.
Security operatives reportedly tracked the kidnappers to a suspected hideout following carefully coordinated efforts. On sighting the advancing team, the armed suspects fled the scene, abandoning the victims who were rescued safely without any injuries.
The rescued individuals have been identified as Ekechikwu Omale, Ummi Salisu from Kudan Local Government Area in Kaduna State, and Pastor Daniel Tanko Bawa from Tufa Village in Niger State. After their rescue, they were immediately taken to a police medical facility for examination and treatment before being reunited with their families.
During the course of the operation and subsequent investigation, five suspects believed to be informants were arrested. Preliminary findings suggest that they played a role in supplying information and logistical support to the kidnappers. Authorities also stated that the suspects admitted their involvement during interrogation.
The Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, Rabiu Muhammad, praised the security teams for their professionalism and effective collaboration, which led to the successful outcome of the operation. He reaffirmed the command’s ongoing commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
He further encouraged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and reliable information, stressing that community cooperation remains essential in the fight against crime. According to him, investigations are still ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the criminal network, with the aim of ensuring that all those involved face justice.
