King Mitchy Reacts to Message From Ooni of Ife

zoyols

King Mitchy has spoken out publicly following online criticism linked to a leaked chat involving the Ooni of Ife. The influencer addressed the controversy through her social media stories, choosing to speak directly to her critics while expressing gratitude to the monarch for what she described as a kind gesture. The situation began after her online dispute with social activist Very Dark Man escalated, particularly after she challenged his school renovation campaign by claiming she had also renovated a school within a short period and daring him to donate funds for additional projects. The drama later spread across social media, with both sides trading words.

In her online message, Mitchy shared screenshots of a conversation she claimed to have had with the monarch, where he reportedly encouraged her to ignore online criticism and continue her good work. She later told followers that she did not personally know the king before this moment and was surprised by the level of kindness she received. She thanked him repeatedly, describing the message as thoughtful and supportive. According to her, the king referred to her as a young girl who should be protected from unnecessary online attacks, a statement she seemed emotionally moved by while speaking to her followers.

The reaction from VDM was swift, as he pointed out what he described as irony in the situation. He argued that while he would bow in respect to the Ooni in person, he found it surprising that the monarch would be engaging in what he considered overly familiar online conversations. He also accused Mitchy of disrespecting the royal institution through her public remarks, adding that such behaviour could weaken public respect for traditional authority. He further compared the situation to other royal figures, praising the dignity associated with traditional leadership in parts of Nigeria.

Over time, VDM has built a reputation for speaking loudly on social and financial issues affecting Nigerians. He has consistently called out celebrities, influencers, and other public figures over alleged fraudulent promotions and unethical practices. He once bragged about standing against a popular anonymous blog, claiming he played a role in its decline while insisting that his activism is driven by a desire to protect ordinary people from online scams. Despite the controversies surrounding his activism, he continues to attract both strong criticism and public support from different sections of the public.
