In a move that has sparked widespread conversation online, Nollywood star Mercy Johnson Okojie has officially dropped the defamation charges against TikTok creator Eedie Bliss. The content creator regained her freedom on Saturday, January 17, 2026, following a period of detention that had triggered a massive wave of public outcry across various social media platforms.
The controversy began late last year when Eedie Bliss posted a video on TikTok making heavy allegations against the actress and her husband, Prince Henry Okojie. The TikToker claimed that Prince Okojie had purchased a home for a pregnant mistress. She went even further by alleging that Mercy Johnson had conspired with a domestic staff member to cause the mistress to suffer a miscarriage claims she attributed to gossip blogs.
The legal battle took a sharp turn when popular social media activist VeryDarkMan stepped into the fray. He publicly criticized the actress for using the police to handle what he described as a civil defamation matter, accusing her of using her influence to oppress the young creator. After issuing an ultimatum for the girl’s release, he later confirmed that the actress had decided to let the matter go.
Taking to his Instagram page to announce the development, VeryDarkMan expressed his gratitude to Mercy Johnson for choosing the path of peace. He referred to her as the “Greatest of All Time” for dropping the charges but also issued a stern warning to internet trolls. He stated that he would now be standing against anyone who bullies the Okojie family, noting that the online harassment directed at them had become excessive.
While the release of Eedie Bliss has brought some relief to her supporters, the incident has reignited the debate over the boundaries of content creation and the legal consequences of sharing unverified information about public figures. Many fans are now urging for a more respectful approach to celebrity reporting to avoid such messy legal entanglements in the future.
