Alex Otti, governor of Abia State, met with President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja on Tuesday. Zoyols Blog gathered that the governor arrived at the Villa around midday, shortly after the president wrapped up a meeting with service chiefs.
His visit to the presidency followed closely after his trip to the Sokoto Correctional Centre, where he held a private meeting with Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra.
While the details of his discussion with President Tinubu were not immediately disclosed, there are growing suggestions that the meeting may be linked to quiet negotiations aimed at securing Kanu’s release.
After Kanu was convicted on terrorism related charges, Otti explained that he had begun a political and diplomatic effort to pursue the possibility of freedom for the IPOB leader.
Ferdinand Ekeoma, the governor’s special adviser on media and publicity, said Otti encouraged Kanu to remain steadfast during their meeting. He added that the governor noted that the engagements he started more than two years ago have now been intensified.
