Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has formally joined the All Progressives Congress, a move he says is aimed at advancing the interests of the people of Rivers. The governor made the announcement on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ meeting at the Government House.
Fubara explained that his decision comes after careful consultation and with the approval of President Bola Tinubu. He emphasized that aligning with the ruling party will provide a stronger platform to serve the state and its residents effectively.
The governor’s defection had been widely anticipated, following multiple meetings with the President and the recent switch of 17 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to the APC. This latest development is expected to reshape the political landscape in Rivers State ahead of the upcoming elections.
