President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Bayelsa State following the passing of Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
In a statement issued yesterday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Ewhrudjakpo as a dedicated and selfless public servant who devoted his career to the service of Bayelsa State and Nigeria with patriotism and integrity.
President Tinubu conveyed his sympathies to Governor Douye Diri, the late deputy governor’s wife, Mrs. Beatrice Ewhrudjakpo, their children, extended family, friends, and colleagues who worked alongside him over the years.
Highlighting Ewhrudjakpo’s distinguished career, the President recalled his tenure as Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure in Bayelsa State, followed by his election as senator representing Bayelsa West. Tinubu noted that the late deputy governor’s contributions to the state were evident in the infrastructure projects he oversaw and the impactful role he played in lawmaking and policy development at the National Assembly.
He urged the government and people of Bayelsa to preserve the legacy of Ewhrudjakpo, whose service has left a lasting imprint on the state’s development. The President prayed for the repose of his soul and sought divine comfort and strength for his grieving family, the state government, and the people of Bayelsa during this difficult period.
