Tyson Fury is set to return to the ring in April 2026, bringing an end to his latest retirement with a high-profile clash against Arslanbek Makhmudov. The bout is scheduled to take place in the United Kingdom on April 11 and will be streamed globally on Netflix, marking Fury’s first fight since his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024.
The former heavyweight world champion stepped away from boxing a month after losing his rematch with the unified titleholder, but earlier this month he confirmed that he was ready to lace up his gloves once again. Speaking on his comeback, Fury made it clear that the sport still runs deep in his veins, expressing excitement about returning and declaring that his heart has always belonged in the ring.
At 37, the Morecambe-born fighter will be facing a tough opponent in Makhmudov. The 36-year-old Russian has built a solid reputation, winning 21 of his 23 professional bouts. His most recent outing came in October, when he defeated British heavyweight Dave Allen, adding another statement win to his record.
This upcoming fight also marks Fury’s long-awaited return to boxing on home soil. He has not fought in the UK since December 2022, when he stopped Derek Chisora at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to retain his WBC title. Since then, his career has been defined by major fights abroad and dramatic decisions about his future.
Fury’s professional record stands at 34 wins from 37 fights, with 24 of those victories coming by knockout. He has suffered two losses and one draw during a career that has seen him reach the top of the heavyweight division on more than one occasion. His first reign as world champion came in 2015 after dethroning Wladimir Klitschko to claim the WBA Super, IBF, and WBO titles. He later captured the WBC belt in 2020 with his memorable win over Deontay Wilder.
Despite those achievements, Fury has never held the undisputed heavyweight crown. His only defeats came in back-to-back losses to Usyk in 2024, results that have continued to motivate him. The Briton has openly spoken about his desire to settle that score, and his return against Makhmudov appears to be the first step in what could be another ambitious chapter of his career.
As anticipation builds, fans will be watching closely to see how Fury performs after time away from the ring, and whether this comeback signals one last push toward heavyweight glory.
