A Nigerian doctor based in Canada, identified as Zo, has publicly expressed regret over his past views regarding Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the Indigenous People of Biafra, popularly known as IPOB.
In a statement that has gained attention across social media platforms, the medical practitioner revealed that he was once skeptical of Kanu’s message and chose not to support the movement. According to him, his reservations were largely influenced by what he considered to be the group’s confrontational style at the time.
Reflecting on his change of perspective, Zo explained that he recently revisited several old videos featuring the IPOB leader. After watching the recordings, he said he became convinced that Kanu had spoken about many of Nigeria’s current challenges years before they became realities.
The doctor noted that this realization prompted him to reassess his earlier position. He also pointed to developments involving other regional figures, observing that Yoruba self determination advocate Sunday Igboho has earned widespread recognition and support among many Yoruba people. He further remarked that some former Boko Haram members have been successfully reintegrated into society.
Against this backdrop, Zo said he finds it deeply troubling that Nnamdi Kanu remains in detention. He described the situation as one that continues to raise serious concerns for him.
Expressing remorse over his previous stance, the Canada based doctor offered what he described as a heartfelt apology to Kanu and members of IPOB. He acknowledged that he did not fully understand or appreciate the vision being advanced by the separatist leader at the time and said he now regrets withholding his support.
