Andoni Iraola has officially been appointed as the new manager of Liverpool Football Club, marking a fresh chapter at Anfield.
The 43 year old coach has signed a two year contract with the Premier League side, stepping in to replace Arne Slot, who was dismissed only a year after guiding the club to the league title.
Liverpool’s decision to bring in Iraola followed discussions around several potential candidates, although he ultimately emerged as the only coach the club engaged directly. Sources close to the club say his appointment reflects their belief that he is one of the most highly regarded managers in the game, a reputation that attracted strong interest from other teams as well.
Club officials were also said to be impressed by Iraola’s clear enthusiasm for the role and his willingness to take on the challenge at Anfield.
Liverpool believe the former Bournemouth boss is the right fit to introduce a more aggressive and high intensity style of play, with a stronger focus on attacking football.
During his time in charge of Bournemouth, Iraola guided the team through an impressive run of form in the second half of the 2025 26 Premier League season, going 18 matches unbeaten. That performance helped the club secure a sixth place finish and a spot in the Europa League.
Bournemouth also ended the campaign just three points behind Liverpool, underlining the progress made under his leadership before his move to Merseyside.
