Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially deployed 1,600 newly recruited watchmen to secondary schools across the state, issuing them permanent and pensionable appointment letters.
According to Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Director-General of Media and Publicity at the Kano Government House, the governor described the deployment as a vital move to restore safety, discipline, and stability in public schools. He emphasized that a secure environment is essential for learning, allowing students and teachers to thrive without fear.
Governor Yusuf highlighted that the watchmen will act as frontline protectors, overseeing school premises, monitoring unauthorized activities, and ensuring academic programs run smoothly.
He commended the Ministry of Education and the Kano State Secondary Schools Service Management Board for their dedication in implementing the initiative and urged the watchmen to carry out their duties with vigilance, integrity, and professionalism.
