PBAT Praises Shettima, Declares Unwavering Confidence in His Vice

ZoyolsBlog

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his confidence in Vice President Kashim Shettima, dismissing speculations that he may be reconsidering his deputy ahead of the 2027 elections.

Rumors had circulated in recent weeks, suggesting that Tinubu might not run on the same ticket with Shettima. The speculation gained momentum after some political figures in the North-East, Shettima’s home region, endorsed Tinubu for a second term without making any mention of the vice president.

But in a personal statement released on Tuesday, Tinubu spoke glowingly about Shettima, praising his loyalty, leadership, and contribution to the administration’s goals.

“Today, September 2, 2025, gives me another opportunity to celebrate you, my brother, partner, and Vice President, as you mark another birthday,” Tinubu wrote. “Since we embarked on this journey to build a greater Nigeria, your courage, determination, and faith in our nation’s future have remained constant.”

The president recalled Shettima’s years of service as Borno State governor and later as senator representing Borno Central, noting that he consistently placed service above privilege, even in difficult times.

He went further to describe Shettima’s role in the current administration as indispensable: “Your vibrancy, loyalty, and partnership continue to strengthen our work. In choosing you as my deputy, I chose competence and commitment — qualities Nigerians can trust. Every day, you prove that decision right.”

Tinubu highlighted Shettima’s contributions to major policy initiatives, from advancing food security and attracting investment to forging global partnerships. He stressed that their collaboration has been key to laying the foundation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“As we push forward with reforms that will bring more jobs, schools, hospitals, and opportunities for Nigerians, your role remains central to our progress. Our partnership is not just political; it is a bond that bridges regions and traditions in service to one united Nigeria,” Tinubu said.

The president rounded off his message with warm wishes on Shettima’s 59th birthday: “I wish you renewed strength, wisdom, and many more years of impactful service. Happy birthday, Kashim.”
