Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has thrown down the gauntlet to veteran musician Terry G, challenging him to a celebrity boxing match which he believes would bring renewed attention to the entertainer’s career.
Portable made the remarks during an appearance on Channels Television’s Rubbin Minds on Sunday, where he spoke about his growing interest in celebrity boxing and the financial rewards it has brought him.
According to the controversial singer, a fight against Terry G would generate massive public interest and put the veteran artiste back in the spotlight.
He also made it clear that he has no interest in stepping into the ring with social media personalities, including VeryDarkMan and Carter Efe, insisting that he would rather face fellow entertainers.
Portable described himself as the pioneer of celebrity boxing in Nigeria, claiming the sport has earned him millions of naira through his previous bouts.
Looking ahead, the singer expressed confidence that his scheduled rematch with actor Charles Okocha on July 31 in Lagos would attract a huge audience and further strengthen the popularity of celebrity boxing in the country.
He added that victory over Terry G, if the proposed fight eventually takes place, would mark the beginning of another major phase in his career, revealing plans to travel to London before embarking on tours across the United States, Russia, Malaysia, Dubai and South Africa.
