Time certainly has a way of moving faster than we expect, and nothing proves that more than seeing how quickly little Rakeem Mbakala is growing. It feels like only a short while ago that Priscilla Ojo, daughter of veteran actress Iyabo Ojo, shared the news of her pregnancy that took the internet by storm. Fast forward to today, and her son with Tanzanian singer Juma Jux is already reaching major milestones.
In a heartwarming update shared on her Snapchat, Priscilla gave fans a glimpse of Rakeem taking his first steps with the help of a walking aid. The sight is a clear reminder that the little one is approaching his first birthday in just under three months. This latest development follows a video from last week where the couple was seen patiently teaching their son how to navigate the stairs, with Priscilla leading the way on all fours while Juma stood close by to ensure his safety.
Despite the public interest in her journey as a mother, Priscilla has remained firm about protecting her son’s privacy. During a recent conversation with Jarvis, she addressed the criticism she has faced for not showing Rakeem’s face. She made it clear that as his mother, the decision rests entirely with her, and she will only share his full identity when she feels the time is right.
Priscilla’s transition into motherhood has been filled with emotional reflection. When Rakeem turned six months old, she expressed deep gratitude for how he has transformed her life and strengthened the bond within their home. She shared her joy at hearing him call her “Mama” for the first time and has kept followers updated on his progress as he moved from sitting and crawling to finally standing and walking.
The journey began on August 24th when the couple welcomed Prince Raheem Ayomide Mkambala into the world. The milestone was later celebrated with a beautiful gathering of family and friends in Tanzania to mark his 40th day. Reflecting on the birth, Priscilla hasn’t shied away from the realities of labor, recalling the 3 a.m. rush to the hospital and how the intensity of contractions quickly overshadowed any plans she had for social media content.
Through it all, Priscilla has credited her support system for helping her navigate the postpartum period. She described her mother, Iyabo Ojo, and family friend Lola Alao as her lifesavers, noting that their care allowed her the space to rest and heal properly. For the young influencer, being surrounded by such strong women has made all the difference in her new chapter as a parent.
