Waspapping: The NSA Had No Part in My Arrest and Detention

Zoyols News

Sani Buhari, the popular social media influencer known as Waspapping, has come forward to clear the air regarding his recent run-in with security agencies. In a detailed update shared on Thursday, Buhari explicitly stated that the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and his office had absolutely nothing to do with his arrest or subsequent detention. This clarification comes after weeks of intense public speculation and various theories circulating online about who ordered his pick-up.

The ordeal began on March 6, 2026, when operatives of the Department of State Services intercepted him at the NEPA Roundabout in Kaduna. Buhari noted that the arrest was sudden and initially lacked any formal explanation. The following day, he was moved to Abuja under the directives of the DSS Director-General. Throughout this period, there were suggestions that his detention was linked to his vocal commentary on sensitive international issues, specifically regarding US foreign policy and the conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran.

Setting the record straight, Buhari emphasized that at no point during his time in custody was the NSA’s office mentioned as the source of the order. He pointed out that from his observations, the Office of the National Security Adviser seemed entirely unaware of his situation when it first occurred. He noted that despite various efforts from different quarters to secure his freedom, things only began to move in a positive direction when a close associate reached out to an official within the NSA’s office.

This intervention proved to be the turning point. Buhari explained that once the official from the NSA’s office engaged with the DSS leadership, there was an immediate and visible shift in how his case was being managed. He described the subsequent process as more structured and responsive, which eventually paved the way for his release. Interestingly, the influencer also had words of praise for the DSS, describing the institution as professional and respectful of his rights while he was in their care.

The influencer argued that it would be completely illogical to claim that the same office responsible for his arrest would be the one working to facilitate his freedom. To him, the facts of his experience show the exact opposite of the rumors. He maintained that the NSA’s office acted as a stabilizing force that contributed to the resolution of his case rather than being the architect of his troubles.

By speaking out, Buhari hopes to end the misinformation surrounding his detention and provide a factual narrative of the events. As he returns to his regular activities, the focus now shifts back to the broader conversation regarding the boundaries of digital commentary and the role of security agencies in monitoring public discourse.
