Edo Queens will return to training today, Wednesday, September 23, as the reigning WAFU B champions begin preparations for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League in South Africa.
The Benin City based side has been away from training for two weeks following their impressive triumph at the WAFU B zonal championship in Burkina Faso.
According to the team’s Media Officer, Ojieva Ehiosun, the Nigeria Women’s Football League champions are now set to resume work with their attention fully focused on the continental competition.
After conquering West Africa, Edo Queens face a tougher challenge on the bigger stage and will be expected to step up their preparations ahead of the tournament scheduled for October and November.
The team’s training programme will focus on improving fitness, strengthening tactical organisation and ensuring the players are fully prepared for the demands of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Head Coach Moses Aduku is also back with the team after missing the WAFU B campaign due to national team duties. Aduku had travelled to Poland with some members of the Edo Queens squad who were involved with the Falconets.
With the continental tournament drawing closer, Edo Queens will hope to build on their regional success and maintain their winning momentum when they face Africa’s top women’s clubs in South Africa.
