Manchester City kept their title chase alive with a 3–1 victory over Bournemouth on Sunday, trimming Arsenal’s lead at the top of the Premier League to six points.
Erling Haaland was once again the headline act, netting a brilliant brace to restore City’s second-place standing. The Norwegian striker opened the scoring, responded swiftly after Tyler Adams’ equaliser, and took his league tally to an incredible 13 goals in just 10 matches.
City’s third came from young talent Nico O’Reilly, who bagged his first goal of the season to seal the win and ensure Pep Guardiola’s men maintained pressure on the Gunners.
While Guardiola has been urging more players to step up in front of goal, he certainly won’t complain about Haaland’s unrelenting form. The 24-year-old continues to dominate defenses week after week, reaffirming his place as one of the most lethal finishers in world football.
Both of Haaland’s goals were expertly assisted by Rayan Cherki, who delivered two brilliant setups in what was only his second league start for City after recovering from a thigh injury.
