Nollywood star Ini Dima-Okojie has opened up about a relatable and slightly emotional moment that changed her perspective on motherhood. The actress, who is currently expecting her first child with husband Abasi Eneobong, recently admitted that she used to think stories of pregnant women crying over food cravings were a bit exaggerated. However, she found herself in that exact position after a simple social media post sparked an uncontrollable hunger.
The craving started when she saw a video of Funke Akindele visiting a specific restaurant in the Maryland area of Lagos. The sight of the meal was so convincing that Ini immediately sent her driver and personal assistant to get it. Known for her love of stew, the actress requested extra on the side, but things took a tearful turn when the restaurant staff initially refused, citing a strict policy against selling extra portions of stew separately.
Refusing to give up on her meal, she personally got on the phone to negotiate with the vendor. In a funny yet vulnerable moment, the frustration of the craving caught up with her, and she began to cry while explaining her plight. The lady on the other end of the line eventually gave in, proving that the legendary pregnancy craving is very real.
This journey to motherhood is particularly special for Ini, given her public battle with health challenges in the past. Zoyols News recalls that the actress underwent surgery for fibroids back in 2021 and was hit with a second diagnosis in 2024. Choosing a more holistic path to recovery, she had been very disciplined with her diet, cutting out red meat, processed sugar, and carbonated drinks to stay healthy.
Her pregnancy announcement earlier this year has been seen by many fans as a major testimony. From sharing the emotional moment she first saw her positive pregnancy test to celebrating her first Mother’s Day as an expectant mum, Ini has been transparent about the awe she feels as her body changes. For a woman who has spent years navigating surgeries and strict health regimes, being able to finally cry over a plate of rice and extra stew is a milestone she is embracing with joy.
