Nollywood actor Kunle Remi has sent a heartfelt message to President Tinubu in response to the brutal Palm Sunday killings in Angwa Rukuba, Jos, where Fulani gunmen reportedly opened fire on a community.
Sharing a video of a mother holding her injured son, Kunle described the clip as his true birthday message to the president, expressing hope that it would reach him. He pleaded for leadership to truly feel the weight of the suffering Nigerians endure daily.
“You wake up. You pray. You thank God for life. Then you open the internet… and you see this. A Nigerian woman crying. Watching someone she loves slip away. No power. No help. No system. Just bombing, violence, suspected gunmen. Pain and tears. And you ask yourself… how did we get here? This cannot be the country we pray for every morning. This cannot be the reward for hard work. This cannot be the future we keep promising ourselves. Maybe this is the real birthday message to Mr President today. Not the official statements. Not the press releases. Just this pain. I hope this reaches you. I hope you see what Nigerians are carrying. I hope one day leadership will truly feel the weight of the people,” he wrote.
Kunle’s message echoes sentiments shared by other public figures. Last year, singer Davido expressed heartbreak over the kidnapping of young girls in Kebbi and condemned the attack on a church in Kwara State, calling for national unity and peace. Actor Toyin Abraham reflected on the deep fear mothers carry in the face of violence, highlighting how terrorism and religious extremism tear communities apart.
Iyabo Ojo urged immediate action, warning that the abduction of girls recalls the Chibok tragedy and demanding that Nigerians stand against injustice. Even Wizkid’s son, Boluwatife, emphasized the responsibility of the next generation, insisting they will not accept a future dominated by fear.
