The Federal Government, acting through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP-SDGs), has officially unveiled two major infrastructure projects in Ota, Ogun State. The newly commissioned facilities include the Ota Central Police Divisional Headquarters and a modern 40-bed Primary Healthcare Centre, both designed to serve the residents of Ota and its surrounding areas.
The launch of these projects, spearheaded by Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, brought together a distinguished gathering of government officials, traditional rulers, security experts, and healthcare professionals. The atmosphere in the community was one of deep appreciation, with many locals describing the new facilities as long-awaited interventions that will significantly improve their daily lives and overall well-being.
Representing Princess Orelope-Adefulire at the event, the Secretary of Programme for SDGs, Bala Mohammed Saulawa, highlighted the strategic importance of these developments. He noted that the new police headquarters is a direct investment in peace and justice, aligning with global goals for strong institutions. The project is intended to boost the operational capacity of law enforcement while building a stronger bond of trust between the police and the public.
The 40-bed Primary Healthcare Centre is equally vital, focusing on providing affordable and quality medical care to women, children, and the elderly. Princess Orelope-Adefulire emphasized that a truly safe community must also be a healthy one, noting that these efforts are part of the broader Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at delivering people-centered infrastructure across the nation.
The Olota of Ottaland, His Majesty Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, described the day as a historic milestone for the kingdom. He expressed his gratitude to the Presidency and praised the SSAP-SDGs for her commitment to her roots and her service to the country. The monarch pointed out that the site of the new police station holds historical significance, and its upgrade represents a restoration of safety and public order in the heart of Ottaland.
Security and health officials also weighed in on the impact of the new structures. Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, remarked that a better working environment for officers would lead to more efficient service and quicker response times to local security issues. Meanwhile, community leaders like Baale Chief Rasaq Adekunle and women leader Mrs. Funmilayo Adebisi spoke about the relief the hospital brings, as families will no longer have to travel long distances for essential medical attention.
