President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, in the early hours of Monday, May 11, to take part in the prestigious Africa Forward Summit. The President’s aircraft touched down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at approximately 12:18 a.m. local time, marking the start of a high-level diplomatic mission aimed at strengthening continental ties.

Upon his arrival, the President was warmly received by Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, alongside the Kenyan High Commissioner to Nigeria, Isaac Parashina. Other senior Kenyan officials and members of the Nigerian diplomatic mission were also on hand to welcome the Nigerian leader and his delegation.

The summit, which is being co-hosted by Kenyan President William Ruto and French President Emmanuel Macron, serves as a major platform for discussing Africa’s economic future. The gathering brings together various heads of state, business leaders, and policymakers to find innovative ways to drive trade expansion, digital growth, and climate resilience across the continent.

For Nigeria, this visit is about more than just attendance; it is a strategic move to reinforce the country’s leadership role in African affairs. President Tinubu is expected to participate in several bilateral and multilateral talks, focusing on how regional cooperation and strategic partnerships can speed up sustainable development for all African nations.

The President is traveling with a high-powered team of officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Ojukwu, and the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani. Also on the delegation are the Ministers of Agriculture, Environment, and Trade, reflecting the administration’s broad focus on economic transformation and international engagement.

Throughout the summit, the Nigerian delegation will be looking to showcase the country’s commitment to Africa-driven solutions. By engaging with other leaders on topics ranging from infrastructure to the blue economy, the President aims to align the nation’s domestic agenda with broader continental goals for collective prosperity.
