South Africa’s Dricus Du Plessis delivered a commanding performance on Saturday night, defeating former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman by unanimous decision in their highly anticipated title rematch held in Oklahoma, United States.
Du Plessis controlled the contest from the opening bell, earning convincing scorecards of 50 to 45, 49 to 46 and 49 to 46 after five rounds of action.
Making his first appearance since August 2025, the South African returned in impressive fashion, combining his trademark unorthodox style with power and precision to keep Usman on the back foot throughout the fight.
He established his rhythm early with sharp jabs and damaging calf kicks before repeatedly connecting with his signature question mark kick, which unsettled the former champion on several occasions.
Usman struggled to cope with Du Plessis’ movement and unpredictable attacks as the South African dictated the pace and controlled the exchanges from start to finish.
The opening round clearly belonged to Du Plessis, who repeatedly found his target with stiff jabs and powerful leg kicks. A clean right hand to the temple briefly left Usman unsteady, setting the tone for what became a one sided display.
Du Plessis maintained his dominance across all five rounds, frustrating the Nigerian born fighter with accurate striking and relentless pressure on his way to a well deserved unanimous decision victory.
