Samuel Chukwueze came off the bench to deliver a sensational performance, scoring twice as Fulham fell 5–4 to Manchester City on Tuesday night. The Super Eagles winger had already been pivotal in Fulham’s 2–1 win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, and he once again showcased his impact.
Chukwueze entered the fray with Fulham trailing 3–1 at halftime. Manchester City had raced into a commanding lead with Erling Haaland scoring in the 17th minute, followed by Tijjani Reijnders’ strike in the 37th. Phil Foden extended the lead with goals just before and after the break, while a freak own goal by Sander Berge in the 54th minute further stretched City’s advantage.
But Fulham refused to fold. Emile Smith Rowe pulled one back in stoppage time of the first half, giving the home crowd hope. The second half saw Alex Iwobi fire in another goal at the 57th minute, bringing the visitors within reach of a remarkable comeback.
Chukwueze then took center stage, finding the net in the 72nd and 78th minutes. His brilliant brace reignited Fulham’s challenge and left fans on the edge of their seats, turning the contest into a gripping finale. Despite their valiant effort, Fulham fell just short as Manchester City held on for the narrow 5–4 win.
The match highlighted Chukwueze’s growing influence and flair, proving once again that the Nigerian winger can change games in an instant.
