Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has undergone a second MRI scan as he continues to recover from the ankle injury he sustained during Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Rwanda.
The injury has raised concerns for both Galatasaray’s Süper Lig campaign and their European fixtures, particularly with the upcoming Champions League clash against Liverpool in Istanbul on September 30. His participation could significantly influence the team’s attacking dynamics.
Osimhen took part in a partial training session on Sunday but is still experiencing some discomfort. Club sources confirmed that another MRI was necessary to assess his recovery progress.
Speaking about his condition, Osimhen expressed both caution and optimism. “My pain has mostly gone. I don’t want to play before I’m fully recovered, but I feel fine now. If Coach Okan gives me the chance, I would like to play,” he said.
The club’s medical team, alongside the technical staff, continues to monitor his individual training sessions to gauge his match readiness. Encouraging performances in recent sessions have sparked hope that he may be fit in time for the high-profile Champions League encounter.
