Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, better known as 2Baba, has poured out his heart in an emotional open letter celebrating his 25 years in the music industry. The award-winning singer took a reflective tone, expressing deep gratitude to everyone who has played a part in shaping his extraordinary journey.
In the message titled “Open Letter of Gratitude – 2Baba @ 25 Years in the Industry,” the veteran artiste described his career as one filled with memories, lessons, and unending love. He said the milestone was not his alone but a celebration shared with all those who believed in him long before he fully understood his own path.
“As I stand on the threshold of 25 years in this incredible journey called music, my heart is full of gratitude, memories, lessons, and love. This celebration is not mine alone—it belongs to everyone who played a role in shaping the story of Innocent Idibia, 2Baba,” he wrote.
2Baba took time to honor several key figures who guided him in his early years. He paid special tribute to Nelson Brown, who discovered and nurtured the then-young trio, Plantashun Boiz, which consisted of himself, Faze, and Blackface. “You were the first to see light in the dream of three young men when no one else believed,” he said. “You gave us a voice when we barely had a microphone, a space when all we had was a dream.”
He also extended heartfelt appreciation to music industry pioneers Baba Keke (Kenny Ogungbe) and D1 (Dayo Adeneye), describing them as mentors who gave him his first professional opportunity—one that transformed not only his career but the entire Nigerian entertainment scene. “You opened doors that led us from dreams to destiny,” 2Baba wrote. “We made history together, we won together, and your names will forever be etched in my story.”
The singer acknowledged Eddie Lawani for giving Plantashun Boiz a stage to showcase their potential when the music scene offered few chances to upcoming acts. He also praised DJ Jimmy Jatt for his constant support, loyalty, and belief in his talent from day one.
