The Adamawa State Government, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme, has rolled out a major empowerment initiative in Madagali Local Government Area, targeting 2,500 households with cash grants, vocational tools, and fish farming inputs.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who launched the programme at the Gulak Stadium, said the initiative is designed to help more than 10,000 people rebuild their lives and create sustainable sources of income. He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the support to improve their economic wellbeing.
Fintiri commended the United Nations Development Programme for its continued role in post-conflict recovery and called for the expansion of the initiative to other communities affected by insecurity, including Michika, Mubi, Maiha, Gombi, and Hong.
Dr. Celine Laori, Executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, explained that 1,500 households received ₦300,000 each as business start-up grants, 500 were given vocational kits, and another 250 benefited from fish farming materials to boost local production.
Community leaders and beneficiaries described the intervention as timely and transformative, applauding both the state government and the UNDP for their commitment to rebuilding lives and restoring hope in the region.
