Senate President Godswill Akpabio has called on Nigerian youths to remain hopeful and have faith in the country’s future, urging them to take an active role in driving positive change.
Speaking at an interactive session with the All Progressives Congress Youths, titled “An Uncommon Evening With President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio,” held at the APC Youth House in Abuja, Akpabio encouraged young Nigerians to focus on practical steps they can take to improve their communities. The event was organised by APC National Youth Leader Dayo Israel.
“The world was not built in a day. If you feel discouraged about Nigeria’s future, do something about it. As a young person, you can change Nigeria by taking the right steps,” Akpabio said. “Start by cleaning your environment, sharing what you have, and showing love to one another. Do not despair. Believe strongly in your country. Your time will come, and Nigeria will change.”
He emphasised the power of the mind in shaping outcomes, telling the youths, “The mind is stronger than the body. Believe in your mind that your country will be better. Believe that you will succeed in life and that you will be the agent of change for your generation.”
Akpabio also highlighted the role of the APC as a platform for transformation and leadership. “APC is not an accident. It is a dream that was carefully thought out. It is a vehicle for change and stability, and it will guarantee your future success in leadership,” he said.
Addressing the youths directly, he added, “You are not just leaders of tomorrow; you are leaders of today. Discover your mission to unite Nigeria, to love one another, and to earn respect from the international community through responsibility and integrity in everything you do.”
When asked what inspired him to enter politics, Akpabio revealed, “Anger inspired me. If you are not motivated by the challenges in your life or community, you cannot make meaningful change. My own drive came from seeing the struggles around me and deciding to act.”
Mr Israel, in his welcome remarks, explained that the purpose of the session was to give the youths an opportunity to hear directly from the Senate President, learn from his journey, and be motivated to become effective leaders in their communities.
Zoyols Blog reports that Akpabio’s message resonated with attendees, reinforcing the idea that faith, positive action, and leadership start with the youth who are ready to shape Nigeria’s future.
