The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has directed an immediate and comprehensive investigation into the fire that broke out at the Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase II, in Abuja earlier today. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Monday morning, reportedly caused significant damage to the fourth floor of Block C, an area housing the National Board for Technology Incubation.
Following the containment of the blaze, Walson-Jack visited the site to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the damage. She underscored that the primary goal of the probe is to identify the root cause of the fire and to carry out a thorough evaluation of the building’s structural integrity, ensuring that such a hazardous situation is not repeated.
Reports gathered that emergency services were quick to act, a move for which the Head of Service expressed deep appreciation. She commended the Federal Fire Service and other responding agencies for their swift intervention, noting that their professional response was critical in preventing the flames from spreading to adjacent sections of the complex.
Fortunately, officials have confirmed that the incident resulted in no casualties. All staff members stationed in the affected wing were successfully evacuated before the situation escalated. In the interest of safety, restricted access and protective measures have been implemented around the damaged block while technical experts work to determine the full extent of the property loss.
