Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially presented permanent and pensionable appointment letters to 400 newly recruited Mathematics teachers for the state’s secondary schools.
The Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, explained that the recruitment targets critical subject shortages that have previously affected student performance and career readiness. Highlighting the importance of Mathematics as the backbone of science, technology, engineering, and innovation, Governor Yusuf emphasized the need to equip students with strong foundational skills to thrive in a knowledge-driven economy.
Governor Yusuf noted that the addition of these teachers would improve teaching quality, boost examination outcomes, and create stronger pathways for students aspiring to careers in STEM fields. He also praised the Ministry of Education and the Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board for ensuring a transparent and effective recruitment process.
Addressing the newly appointed teachers, the Governor urged them to embrace their roles with dedication, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to nurturing the next generation of innovators, stressing that their performance must reflect the trust placed in them.
