Nollywood actor and clergyman Oluwatoyin Bayegun, popularly known as Woli Arole, has expressed deep admiration for the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, following a moment of profound humility that caught the public’s eye. The tribute comes after a video went viral showing the revered cleric attending the birthday celebration of Otunba Gbenga Daniel, which was held at an Anglican church.
What struck Woli Arole most was not just the sermon delivered by Pastor Adeboye, but the manner in which he conducted himself within a different denominational setting. Despite his global standing, Pastor Adeboye was seen bowing in honor of the Anglican tradition and its sacred liturgy. Arole described his respect for the man of God as being “out of this world,” noting that this simple gesture carries a heavy message for the current generation of preachers.
Arole emphasized that while spiritual giftings are important, they are not a substitute for character, order, and humility. He challenged younger ministers to look beyond the pulpit and study how established elders navigate different systems with grace and respect. To him, the act of bowing wasn’t just a physical gesture but a masterclass in honoring the broader body of Christ, prompting him to pray for many more years of strength and influence for the veteran cleric.
This isn’t the first time the actor-turned-preacher has publicly honored those he considers spiritual mentors. Over the years, Arole has consistently used his platform to celebrate leadership, having written a moving tribute to Pastor Adeboye during his 78th birthday. He has also shared a close bond with gospel icon Tope Alabi and her husband, Soji, whom he once described as a gift from God whose lifestyle and advice have significantly shaped his own path.
Beyond his appreciation for church leaders, Woli Arole has been making headlines for his humanitarian efforts. He recently touched the hearts of many after an outreach to the Agodi prison in Ibadan, where he was confronted with the staggering reality of over 1,000 inmates currently awaiting trial. Heartbroken by the situation, he expressed a strong desire to facilitate the release of those stuck in the legal system, further cementing his commitment to a ministry that balances spiritual growth with social justice.
