Minister of State for Defence and a leading figure of the All Progressives Congress in Zamfara, Bello Mohammed Matawale,  has thrown his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term. His endorsement came alongside that of key party leaders, stakeholders and supporters across the state during a gathering at the APC secretariat in Gusau.

Their position was formally conveyed in a letter signed by the state party chairman, Hon Umar Tukur Danfulani, the state secretary, Hon Ibrahim Umar Dangaladima and other top figures representing the fourteen local government areas. The letter was forwarded from the office of the Minister of State for Defence to the President, communicating the unified stance of the party’s structure in Zamfara to support Tinubu as its preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential race.

The letter explained that the decision followed a series of meetings held earlier in November in Talata Mafara and later in Gusau. These sessions were led by Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, who represents Zamfara West at the National Assembly, and Matawale, both of whom guided extensive deliberations among party members.

According to the content of the letter, the stakeholders based their endorsement on what they described as the achievements of the current administration, particularly its economic reforms and ongoing efforts to address national security concerns. They said these accomplishments convinced them that Tinubu deserved another term to continue what they regarded as the gains of his administration.

The communication added that party chairmen and secretaries from all local government areas had submitted separate letters reaffirming the decision taken at the Talata Mafara and Gusau meetings. These letters were then forwarded to the state executive committee for transmission to the President.

The party leadership expressed confidence that with unity and continued support, the APC would secure widespread victory across the northwest in the 2027 general elections.
