The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, celebrated his 51st birthday on Friday with heartfelt prayers for peace, unity, and prosperity in Nigeria.
Born on October 17, 1974, and crowned as the 51st Ooni of Ife in August 2015, Oba Ogunwusi reflected on his journey with gratitude, describing his reign as one guided by divine purpose and service to humanity. He expressed appreciation to God for the grace, strength, and wisdom to continue promoting peace and progress both within the Yoruba nation and across Nigeria.
In a statement released by his media office in Ile-Ife, the monarch reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to using traditional leadership as a platform for national unity and cultural renewal. He emphasized that Nigeria remains richly blessed with human and natural resources, urging citizens to work together in building a more peaceful and prosperous nation.
“As I mark my 51st birthday, I give all glory to Olodumare for His endless grace,” the monarch said. “I pray for peace in our country, wisdom for our leaders, and prosperity for all sons and daughters of Oduduwa across the globe. Our diversity should be our strength, not our weakness. Together, we can make Nigeria truly great.”
Oba Ogunwusi also called on traditional rulers and members of the Oduduwa House worldwide to set aside divisions and unite for the common good. He underscored the importance of cultural heritage as a unifying force, stressing that African traditions remain essential tools for fostering identity, social harmony, and national rebirth.
Reiterating his vision for cultural renaissance, the Ooni highlighted his continued focus on youth empowerment, education, and women’s inclusion in leadership. According to him, these pillars are vital for achieving a balanced and forward-looking society.
He extended heartfelt appreciation to Yoruba sons and daughters at home and abroad for their loyalty and unwavering support toward preserving the legacy of their ancestors. The monarch urged them to remain steadfast in promoting the values of peace, love, and respect for humanity wherever they find themselves.
